She gasped with excitement and shouted over the noise of the propeller: "The islands in the clouds are real!!"

Everyone in the class turned around and stared. "What is she doing...?" "Hahah yeah I don't even know what goes on in that weird mind of hers half the time." Her classmates chuckled. As Molly gathered her thoughts after being sucked into a captivating daydream, she realized she was the subject of laughter.

Spanish was Molly's least favorite subject, actually, take that back, school was her least favorite subject. She never enjoyed school. She always said her future would have nothing to do with the classes she was forced to take, and the people didn't make it any better. So, today as she was listening to a song that sounded like a propeller noise, she got sucked into her drawing. Drawing brought her into a new world, a world where absolutely no one else could enter. It's almost as if she didn't even know what was going on when it started, so that's what she did. Started.

It began with a small stroke, that brought to life amazing things. Even something that most would call impossible, became possible. She poured her thoughts and feeling into her drawings. Her mind started speaking to her, “Boom! A splatter of paint…that..that came from a man in the air….who..just…learned to fly! The paint man?! *Crumple Crumple* start over. Maybe a…”

“Excuse me?”

Molly flew her pen back, shaken back into this other world, the “real world”

“Oh…I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you.” Gray said. “I just wanted to tell you, those drawings look really cool. Honestly, I’ve ever seen anything like them.”

Molly was shocked beyond belief. Gray was the “cool” girl, the popular mean one, or so she thought. “Uhh thanks..” Molly said.

“No problem. Listen, I know we’ve never really spoken before, and I know you probably have a bunch of preconceived ideas of who I really am.”

Molly shook her head nonchalantly

“But I just wanted to say that I’m not really what everyone thinks I am. I mean, I really like to draw too…can I maybe see some of yours?”

Molly thought back to herself, all the years she blamed everyone around her for making her feel inferior, always including Gray in those memories. However, when she actually recalled back on them, Gray had nothing to do with these moments. She actually had nothing to do with anything bad that has ever happened to her, so why not give her a chance?

Molly handed Gray her doodles and Gray dropped her mouth. She was floored.

“Can you teach me how to do this?!” Gray exclaimed. These are amazing, but this one is definitely my favorite.”

Molly picked up her doodle that she had been working on all period. She saw her drawing and the islands in the sky that she worked so hard to make look perfect.

“It’s almost as if,” Gray said with a smile. “ the islands in the sky…are real.”
